JOSHUA'S STORY

My name is Joshua Mucha Kimkung. I am 12 years old. I started hiking in 2018. Surprisingly, I took on the high-difficulty hills despite being only 9 years old. During my first hike, I felt so at ease, and excited, as we explored Le Satima in the Aberdare Range. I enjoy the serene landscapes and unpolluted trails mountains and hills offer.
Additionaly,
I also do this to support a project. You see, I attend a public institution called Lang’ata West Primary School. I have 1506 schoolmates. Some of these children walk to school, and it is tiresome and unsafe. They have to wake up early, use public transport, and worry about their safety when crossing roads. For that reason, I thought that getting my school a bus would help so many of my schoolmates.
For that reason,
I climbed Mount Kenya in 2019, 2020 and 2021. They have been memorable experiences. Nonetheless, I have not reached my target for the school bus project. I hope to climb Mount Kilimanjaro , Mount Meru and Mount Kenya from 24th March – 16th April 2022. To get to these three peaks, my team and I are training for the thrilling adventure.
